Mongolia - Import and Excise tax with CDP
 

Hi everyone.

We are currently in the process of organising shipment of our bikes from Malaysia to Mongolia and are in touch with a couple of companies.
All of them seem to add on 15.5% import tax and then excise tax for importing our bikes into mongolia.
I know mongolia is not a CDP country but is there a way around not paying the tax if we can convince them of the "importance" of the Carnet de passage?
We are just a bit reluctant to pay the tax upfront and then scramble around to get it back once we want to leave.
