Hi Bryan
As far as MOT's go, nobody else but your home country cares. It might be a good idea to get the MOT redone so you don't have trouble when you bring the bike back to the UK. For other countries, as long as the REGISTRATION is valid for the period of your travels, and all the vehicle numbers, etc. match the documents, (including the carnet, if you need one), you'll be fine. If the registration document will expire before you come back to the UK, you should see about renewing it before you go. Alternatively, friends of ours produced a nifty counterfeit of our registration, with a new renewal date, on a Macintosh in Gibraltar, since Alberta refused to renew ours while we were overseas. No one can check the actual validity of the registration, as long as the document looks good you're okay. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif As for insurance, it won't be valid outside of Europe anyway. Third party liability insurance (Green Card insurance in Europe) may be required and is usually purchased at the border of each country. As for other insurance (theft, damage, etc.), basically you're on your own. ------------------ Susan Johnson 'One world, two wheels' www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
