National requirements
I would like info on national requirements. Is there a single point of access for this info? Not just carnets etc but also in which countries is it mandatory to carry a fire extinguisher or warning triangle etc.I can find info relevant to cars but not bikes - only the odd reference in various 'Travellers tales'Cheers,Lorenz

I don't think such a site exists, but if somebody wants to maintain one here is some info:
The Eurocrats strike again: According to new EU regulations just released all bikes over 125cc must carry an approved first aid kit from 1 August. Source: http://www.netbiker.de/Article17.html Kroatia: warning vest must be carried. Wearing it is obligatory if "leaving the vehicle" after breakdown or accident or for refuelling on side of the road. Austria: warning triangles for sidecars and quads. A first aid kit is already compulsory, but no approval required. Italy: if caught wearing an unapproved helmet the fine is 71 to 286 € and the bike is confiscated for 30 days. Source: adac.de |
Thanks for that, beddhist - nice to know the nails are still being hammered into the coffin lid of freedom(sorry, went off on one there)Wonder if the glossy bike mags have anything on this - I may just risk the odd email...... L.
