Not another Carnet question.

Hypothetically, is it possible to get a Carnet using you house in the UK as security, once all the paper work is through and sorted, sell your house, and head off on your trip.

Thanks in advance

I don't know the answer to your question, but it sounds reasonable. Obviously if your travelling with little time then you will need to sort the carnet out before you go, but if you have loads of time then just get the AA to send you the forms then apply whilst your away. You won't need it in Europe so send the forms back a couple of weeks before you need it.

Thanks mate, we have quite a bit of time up our sleeves, its just that we are planning on selling up here and driving back to OZ, and figured it would be a good way around tying up a heap of cash. As for the time, we can get the carnet a bit earlier, as we only plan to be on the road 6 or so months and wont need to extend it beyound 12 renewal period.

Thanks again.

go to jail. don't collect 200 or houses on marylebone etc etc.
can't see it working and the AA don't do carnets anymore, do they? when your martgage company gives assurance to the RAC, they keep it on file and will revoke it when you sell. now, assuming you own your house outright, the RAC would probably need you to deposit the deeds with a solicitor/bank to stop you doing as you plan.
carnets are more fun than kids and give you just as many sleepless nights, but only last a year rather than, what, 18 years?

Yep, Rich is right, sorry, we got ours through the RAC not the AA, they don't do them any more.
