Overland Travel with Carnet, but what if car is stolen in South Africa?
Hi Guys
We are traveling overland in Africa with our Carnet. I just noticed big crash on the road and wonder... what happens if the car is stolen or destroyed in say...South Africa or Namibia. How can we get the Carnet deposit back? What would be the process.? Especially carjacking does happen some times. Thanks for the info! WW |
Use your noodle!
If crashed- take pictures of everything and everyone one if possible - crash site/number plates etc If on fire - take pictures etc etc Obtain as many paper documents from Police/Customs/ all authorities to confirm vehicle beyond repair/ crushed / stolen / on fire etc etc Keep paperwork safe - pay for it to obtain copies if you must- it will be cheaper than losing your deposit at home if not believed. |
