Oz to Europe - Visas for India, Pakistan, Iran

Hi folks,

I was wondering about the visa situation for India, Pakistan and Iran.

I planned to get my India visa in Nepal which should not be a problem, but what about the Pakistan and Iran visas? I heard it can be hard to get them in India.
Can I get them in Nepal too? Expiry...?

I am German if this is relevant.

Would be good to get some advise.

Cheers,

Frank

Last time I got a visa for Iran, we only got the visa 2 days before flying out from NZ and that was after quite a few phone calls to the Iranian embassy in NZ. I would suggest to get in ASAP.
Also we no issues getting extensions once we were in Tehran.

Cheers

i was in pakistan on last september. i haven't had enough time to get visa in italy so i thought to apply for it in tashkent. but, once at the embassy they told me visa cannot be obtained abroad of our own country since march2010.
so i've took the risk and rode until the pakistan border coming from china. Sost is the only place abroad your country where you can obtain a pak visa on arrival; it tooks me 5 minutes and 24 $.
hope this will be useful

Indian Visa is best to get back home. The problem is that the relationship between Nepal and India is a tightrope and they often just stop issuing visas for no apartent reason. If in SEAsia then Bangkok is a good option for the Indian Visa.

Pakistan visa in Islamabad. Make sure you have exact $USD in mint condition.

Iranian visa. We ordered it online through a Tourist Agent and picked up the visa at the Iranian embassy in LaHore. I don't recommend them but we used IranianVisa.com. There is plenty of heated info on the HUBB about them and the problems people have. If you can perhaps try to get the Iranian visa in advance... but usually they won't issue it more than 3mths in advance, but you could always try.

He's referring to the condition of the US $ notes Peter.
Many money changers/embassies etc are a real PITA always wanting super crisp never used notes doh...
Can't say I'd mind a trunk-load full of crumpled ones!

Did that route a couple of years ago. I'm from UK and didn't arrange any visas in Oz.

Got my Indian visa in KL, took about 5 days.

Got my Pak visa in Kathmandu after being refused in B'kok. Took 2-3 days. Needed to get a letter of 'no objection' first from the UK consulate in KTM.

Got my Iranian visa using Iranianvisa.com, had no probs and arranged to pick it up in Quetta. Think it was about 3 weeks all in (you need to sign up to a money transfer account first to pay the fee), was travelling all the while and corresponded by email the whole time. You get given a number once its been approved which you give to the guy in the consulate though I had to mention to him I had the approval number to him as there was nothing on the form for it and he didn't ask for it so no idea if it did any good or not. Picked up my visa in Quetta the day after filling in the paperwork.

Bert, sorry but still don't get "Pakistan visa in Islamabad" I understand the new note thing, only ever had that at banks not a changer.

Doh doh, trying to do too much and thinking faster than I can type.

Yeah I meant that you should probably get the Pakistan visa in Kathmandu and that the embassy is a short taxi ride from Tamel area where most of the hotels are located. And yes try to get the USDollar notes in mint condition when going to the Pakistan embassy in Kathmandu. If not then you can always do what I did and make a kefuffle in a local bank to get small change... it's a long story but mint condition notes are important and so is the exact change.

Hope that make it clearer. beerTime for beer
