oz - uk bike without a carnet?
 

can i get into oz by paying a bond instead of a carnet with a uk bike?
i think not but can anybody help?

Hi Bryan

Yes, you can get in without a Carnet, but you must obtain a Vehicle Import Approval in advance of arrival in Australia. You will also need to deposit with Australia Customs cash or bank security equivalent to the duty + GST which would be payable if you sold the bike (26.4% of the value of the bike). This would of course be refundable when you leave the country with the bike.
