Paper work Uk to Anchorage

Hi all,
I am Just looking at shipping (air or sea) for our bikes from UK to Anchorage Alaska, and am not sure what I need to sort paperwork wise, do I need to have any import papers for the bike?
We are in Alaska for 7 days and States for 12 days, then flying home from Buenos Aries 3 months later.
Is it really as simple as flying the bike there, getting it through customs, sorting insurance and visa and then off to go??? surely not:confused1:

Any help on the matter would be most welcome
Kind regards
Chris Reid

Hi Chris

It really is that easy, or at least it was for us. We have just done the Deadhorse to Ushuaia trip and left Buenos aires a few weeks ago, we were and still are complete novices when it comes to long distance travelling, in fact any kind of travelling at all. We shipped with James Cargo from Heathrow to Anchorage and they took care of all the paperwork for shipping even helping at the other end. We used the visa waiver programme and got 90 days without the hassle of a B2 visa (cost, interview etc.) and managed to get insurance from an american company by using our friends address in the States (they also paid out within 5 days of us crashing in the first week!) We now sit back and wonder why we worried about details like these but I guess that's easy to say in hindsight. hope your trip goes as well as ours.
