Parental Authority / responsibility
Anyone know what is needed to take children >11 years old on a trip, in UK the mother automatically has parental responsibility - she won't be on this trip so therefore I need some form of 'certified transfer of responsibility' for the period of the trip - but where from?
Cheers |
Getting 'parental responsibility' for a common-law husband used to mean a trip to the solicitor to make up a simple letter of agreement from the mother herself. It gave you the right to be heard regarding your kids lives - education, health, stuff like that. Haven't got a clue about travelling though. Best bet is to call a family solicitor.

I've been in a slightly different situation; travelled with my goddaughter from NZ around Africa this winter, she was 12 and is currently living with me in France (strict formalities for kids here).
Basically I had a letter from both her parents (divorced) giving me full responsibility (including medical) for her and that they gave their consent for her to go wherever I did. We never needed to show it, luckily I didn't need to sign any medical forms & she was as fit as a fiddle. Unless you have a custodial problem between parents (not being nosey) I wouldn't bother with paying a solicitor. Have fun! Kira |
Thanks for that! no custodial problems but both surnames are different...
Think i'll draft a letter and get it notarised by a solicitor althugh TBH the Tunisians will proably accept anything that's got a rubber stamp on it! Cheers |
Finally found the document I'd been looking for, for you ...
Try this : http://www.thailand4kids.com/web-dat...ents/hague.pdf With a 'standard' consent form at the end of it Kira |
Brilliant!
Thanks for that:thumbup1: |
