Passport close to expiry. Going to be a problem ?
Hey all..
I'm just reading up on Visa requirements for South America and they require that your passport is valid for 6 months after entry... Im planning on country hopping until Spring next year so my passport will be close to expiry. Is this going to be a problem ??? Anyone else had a problem like this ??? Also, it says a return plane ticket is required !! I dont this either ! |
Get a new one
Almost all countries demand six months (some 12 months) left on a passport before issuing a visa. You'll be having problems before you get to SA.
|
Get the passport squared away with at your convenience NOW....as it will give you flexibility in case your plans CHANGE.
You'll have a lot of other fun stuff to sort with while there...don't make passport 6 month durability an issue/opportunity for local officials... You plan on travelling again after those six months, no? So don't be cheap...it'll cost you. |
£120 quid it is !!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
My sisters took 2 months to come through. Extra security checks blaah blaah. Ill have to go to the office and pay a wedge ! As is life .......... |
Patience Ted, Patience.......
Sureley better to take a ride to Peterborough (assuming you live in UK) and deal with an English speaking ( although that aint always guaranteed) Desk Jockey than to wrestle with a Jobsworth in some SA country?
at the very worst your a few hours from home/family/friends. Oh and if they give you a hard time...... pay the money in pound coins..... plus 20 quid in 50p's, that really upsets them...... I saw a Taxi Driver pay for his passport AND his wifes passport that way...... |
Well, iv booked an appointment with the passport office in Liverpool.
They will do me a fast track 1 week guaranteed passport for a mear £97... Bargain !!:nono: Just as well I dont need it the same day as thats £114. Fees go up on Thursay 4th October too so im just inside the window. |
