Are there any special permits/registration requirements to ride through the Altai regions on route to Tsagaannuur, Mongolia?

Hi

if you stay on the main road, you need no border permit (even on the way to Tashanta). For registration you just have to follow the russian rules, it is not special in Altai. Having said that, in Altai you can let you register by a third person easily (in Gorno-Altaisk the agency Aguana did it for us), so this substitutes a registration done by a hotel. You can also leave the main road before Kosh Agatsh if you are not in the border region, so Tschulyschman-valley and Teletskoe are accessible.

If you take the main road and you can show your Mongolian visum: No
