Problems with Temporary Import into USA

well, the RTW started promisingly, with a free upgrade to First Class on the &$& into Miami but, after seeing my shipping broker & the US Customs today, it seems to have stalled. Let me say firstly that I'm not impressed by my brtoker at all. He prepared paperwork for US Customs, describing the bike (which was shipped in, crated) as 'unaccompanied baggage'. The Customs immediately turned this down, saying he didn't know what he was talking about and said it required a Temporary Import Bond (TIB) - effectively a one-country Carnet....

I KNOW this hasn't happened to other travellers - can someone PLEASE tell me how they temp imported their bike in these circumstances. Meanwhile I'll waste time & money waiting for my broker & US Customs to get their act together. Apologied for the brevity of the post, but Holiday Inn's 'High Speed Internet Access' is a complete misnomer :-(

Sorted. Customs were wrong and my shipping agent was right - no need for a TIB.....

so did you not have to leave a bond at all?
what paperwork did you need to clear your bike?
