registration in Spain
I'm planning a trip to europe for may (1 month) and want to buy a motorcycle in Barcelona.
The problem is that I'm not a spanish resident and thus I won't be able to register the bike under my name. Now, I looked at previous postings on the website that were quite helpful. But I thought of a different solution. Since I have a cousin in Barcelona I can register the bike under her name. Now another problem arises, when I go thru border crossings in Eastern Europe they will see that my documents don't match the bike owner and I will have problems. What I thought was to register the bike under my cousins name AND mine as a co-owner. I know for sure this works in the United States because I've done it in the past. If anybody knows this is possible or not ... I would appreciate any advice. Thanks / Jose |
Through Spanish friends & the brother of a friend living in Spain, I've heard that to buy or sell a vehicle in Spain, you must go through some sort of Solicitor (Notary?). It's quite expensive for you & lucrative for the official concerned, hence a popular profession in Spain.
I'm not sure what other difficulties you'll face as you're not an EU citizen. Steve |
