Road Trip from Sri Lanka to Europe
Hi there,
I am planning to purchase an AutoRickshaw in Sri Lanka (yes, seriously) and drive it to Poland. I have already done a research on purchase as a tourist. What I am looking for is information on on insurance and temporary import /export procedures. I am aware that if I was using my bike/car purchased in my country I can use carnet de passage on a round trip. What I am trying to do is to purchase a vehicle that I will permanently exporting from Sri lanka and then registering in Poland. Does anyone have idea on how paper work works with crossing borders? I will be registering vehicle on my own name with residence visa. Where / howdo I purchase insurance (on the borders e.g. like travelling through South America) I assume I will need to leave 'temp import deposit' since I cannot use carnet de passage. Thanks in advance, Cezar |
Motor vehicles (or at least cars and motorcycles, I´m not 100% sure about rickshaws though but I guess them also) need a carnet to be temporarily imported to India. And Pakistan as well.
Secondly, I would not plan on being able to register in Europe a vehicle purchased in Asia (..nevermind an autorickshaw!!) Of course you may try, but I would expect it to be nearly impossible, they´ll have to comply to our emission norms, safety standards etc., and you don´t even see this kind of vehicles over here, so the relevant authorities are probably just gonna say no. Good luck! |
