RTW Brazilian motorbike - Carnet needed?
I'll soon be setting off on a RTW trip on my motorbike starting in Brazil - I'm British but I've been living in Brazil for the last 6 years. My bike was bought and is registered in Brazil.
I will need a Carnet for some countries of course - Japan, for example. But will I need one for other South American countries because of South American deals? I've taken my bike to Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay before and never needed to show a Carnet. Was that just because I was lucky? Because I didn't crash and need to use it? Or because my motorbike is Brazilian? Thanks everyone. |
You don't need a carnet anywhere in America. We actually do use a carnet through preference but you can come and go on TIPs.
As you are evidently aware, you do need a carnet for some places - RSA (unless arriving by land), Kenya, Australia, among others. |
