Serbian Insurance
 

In about 2 weeks time we intend to motor through Serbia on our way to Turkey. We have been warned that without Serbia being actually named on your insurance Green Card ( virtually impossible to get a UK insurance green card for Serbia) you will be charged €145. Is this true?

The figure you mention is spot on. The figure they quoted me for a Mercedes 1617 rigid truck coming from Bulgaria to Serbia was 145 Euros, this was Jan 2009.

However, as i was only transitting through to Croatia from Bulgaria, they actually didnt make me pay it. They guys were pretty friendly and bemused by what they called a "safari" truck, so they said just go. Risky i know, but I was in Croatia within 6 hours.

Word of note....in Jan 2009 Serbian diesel was the cheapest by far for these countries:

Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France. Well worth topping up here. Providing prices havent shifted too much.
