shipping to bangkok and after laos
I need to ship my bmw r1200gs to bangkok in october and from there ride to laos where i should work on a project for 5 months. I thaught it was wiser to get there with a carnet de passage (I have been told that Thai customs can be a problem) but i find it difficult to get one in Italy. to have the guarantee from a bank you need to deposit cash the total value of the motorcycle and i didn't find any insurance yet that would provide the necessary paper. is anybody there that made it with a big motorcycle through Thailand and laos without a carne de passage?

Hi Nicola,
:welcome: to HUBB. You don't need a carnet for either country. Although some customs officers may ask for it, because it makes their job a little easier reading the details of your vehicle, especially since your registration will not be in English. It may be a good idea, however, to obtain an official translation of your rego. |
