Soth America and Carnet
Dear All
Im getting mixed reports re the need for Carnet for South and Central America. Im shipping the bike to BA in Argentina, the agent says I need one, everyone else says , I don't. Any up to date info? |
I have not heard of anyone needing a carnet for Central or South America. They stamp your bike in and out of country using your passport. Now, everyone I've spoken with has arrived in Argentina riding from the North, and then flown or ridden out. I suppose it's possible that different conditions apply to flying in with your bike, but that's unlikely. Once upon a time, carnet's were required in SA, and perhaps it's still written somewhere, but things have changed. No carnet is the word these days.

hello
we arrived 15 days ago in Buenos Aires from paris our car has arrived one week ago from "le havre" harbour (france) we ll travel one year or plus in south america WITHOUT CARNET DE PASSAGES EN DOUANES (CPD) all over the place at the borders, the officials give you "temporary import of vehicle", so no need CPD see other reports here ... and see http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-america-37834 for insurance and shipping happy trails |
