Sudanese and Ethiopian visas
I'm going to be travelling South from Egypt into Sudan and then onto Ethiopia. I understand I'll need to show that I have a visa for Ethiopia in order to get a Sudanese one on arrival (there's not enough time for me to apply for one in UK before i intend to depart), firstly is this true? And secondly, it seems to be a requirement of Ethiopia that I prove my onward travel with either onward flight tickets (not applicable to me) or some sort of proven itinerary. has anyone else been through this process? Any tips/advice would be fab. thanks!

Assuming you are travelling by land, you will need to get a Sudanese visa in advance in Cairo or Aswan (Cairo preferable). A letter of introduction from your embassy in Cairo is needed. Assuming you are British, this will be a £30 piece of diplomacy stating that they don't give out letters of introduction - but it will do. We were not asked for an Ethiopian visa.
For Ethiopia, can be done in Cairo or Khartoum - we got ours in Khartoum, and was a 1 day process. Details in the "For Overlander" section on website below. |
Thank you very much for that response, very helpful! :thumbup1:
