Thai, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam multi entry.
We plan on visiting as backpackers this October prior to a big trip in our Toyota to Africa India etc next April.
Now I have checked the visa stuff online, but would like a "yes ok" or a " not ok" from you guys and gals please. Plan is to fly to Thailand ...spend a month. Then go into Laos....Spend a month. Then go into Vietnam.....spend a month Then go to Cambodia....spend a month Then back into Thailand...spend two months. Fly home...pick up the truck and head off. Visa wise I understand that I can get them at most boarders as we go along....is this so? Will the Thai exempt visa work ok on this trip?? Is there something/anything that won't work with our plan?? Any advice would be very very helpful....I guess this is a common trip. I really am not looking for someone to do the research work for me and I have looked into it......just some first hand knowledge would be great... Many thanks.... Kevin and Heike. |
Hi Kevin & Heike
You can get your visas at each border on arrival. For your second stint in Thailand for 2 months you'll either have to leave and come back in again after 30 days, as the ones issued on arrival are max 30 days. Alternatively, her a 2 month visa in Cambodia, presumably pnomh penh, but maybe other places as well. Enjoy! Gesendet von meinem iPhone mit Tapatalk |

Hi Kevin & Heike again!
Since last Saturday, the thai's have reversed the rules again on length of stay: Arriving at the airport they'll give you 30 days. But arriving overland they've gone back down to 15 days. GrĂ¼sse Gesendet von meinem iPhone mit Tapatalk |
Everything should work out fine with that plan, but get yourself a tourist visa for Thailand in Cambodia. Tourist visa for Thailand is 60 days and can be extended for up to 30 days at any immigration office. (There many of those all over the country)
Dont try to do "visa-runs" as Thailands immigration authorities are getting very much stricter about foreigners doing so called "visa-runs" nowadays and will possibly deny anyone re-entering Thailand on so called "visa-runs". |
You will have to get a Vietnam visa at a consulate or embassy before you arrive at the Vietnam border, only the international airports issue a visa on arrival. Unless it has changed again, again. All fun places, with good beer, especially Lao. Ride safe.
