The Marvellous world of insurances
Hi everyone,
I’m planning for a one-year trip in Middle East and Asia or Latin Americ from this summer. I’ve searched on the website and read a lot of post but feel kinda lost on everything relative to insurance. As far as I understand, it is necessary to have a travel medical insurance for the driver + an insurance for the bike in case of Accident. Right ? • For Medial insurance, ive seen offers from World Nomads and Chapka Insurance that seems covering motorcycle incident for around 800€-1000€ budget for a year. What do you think of these offers ? Is there other company that would be knowingly recommended ? • For Bike insurance I’m a bit lost. Some country seems to require an insurance to pass the border ? Is It possible to book one for the entire trip, or is it supposed to be one per country ? Which offers / company would you recommend ? What would be an approximative budget you would think for this ? Thanks in advance for any helps that would enable me to see a bit more clear !! |
Since this has all been addressed many times on this site, I'll be (uncharacteristically) succinct.
Travel insurance like World Nomads varies greatly according to where you buy it, usually your home country. That means anything I say about World Nomads or other insurance, including prices and what it covers, will be irrelevant unless you and I come from the same place. Which we don't. For the most part, you need separate insurance in each country. There are exceptions, like the EU, the southern tier in South America, much of West Africa. And again for the most part, if you need insurance there'll be someone eager to sell it to you at or near the border. Hope that's helpful. I'd suggest you continue to search the site, and continue to read up on the subject--the more you read, the more comprehensible it will all seem. You might also look at Chris Scott's books, or any similar books or online resources. Mark |
