Travel Insurance policy includes 3rd party liability
Dear world weary overlanders of HUBB
I am a big fan of the website and the friendly informative members who maintain and continue to boost the sites greatness. I have a travel insurance policy which covers me in the event of a 3rd party claim against myself for damage I may have caused to a person or property. I understand that 3rd party insurance is compulsary for vehicles driven in Europe. I am looking to purchase a DRZ400 in Southern Cyprus and ride to the North, Turkey, Bulgaria and onwards to the UK. I have just landed in Europe after 12 months of riding bikes around Vietnam, Laos and India. The presence of law and enforcement is alot more present here than in Asia, I have only harmless and honest intentions with my travels and do not want to enrage johnny law. My question is, can a person who is fully licenced and insured against 3rd party claims legally ride a uninsured vehicle that is registered in the sole riders name? Although the vehicle is uninsured the rider is completely insured for 3rd party damage/injury and is fully licenced. N.B. No insurer in Southern Cyprus will insure a tourist without insurance history in the country. |
No.
But as a big fan of the site, you can find sources for European green card insurance in posts made within the last few days. Try: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...opean-us-72122 . |
Thanks Mark
I will search deeper into the forum to try and find an answer to my question. |
But.....the answer to your question, which I've already given, is "no." And the answer to the question you did not ask, which is "where can I buy the insurance that I need?" is in the link in my last post.
On the other hand, delving deeper into the forum is always a good thing. Mark |
