Travel insurance. World Nomads?
 

Does anyone have Travel Insurance with World Nomads? If so what level do you need to cover yourself for a motorbike trip. I'm assuming its Level 3 but it doesn't seem all that clear.

Are you happy with the cover/service they give?

Equally does anyone have Medijet as well as World Noamd or is that overkill so to speak.

Unless you are riding a moto of less than 125cc World Nomads (UK) will not insure you for an accident on the bike even if another person was at fault. I know, I renewed a policy whilst I was travelling which they allow. They took the money but didn't tell me that they had changed their UK underwriter and the new ones will not insure big bikes. They did inform me of the changes in the policy, by mail to my UK address. I found out in a hospital in Mexico when I conntacted them to authorise my treatment for a fractured femur and two trashed shoulders. Still, rather there and then than 2 weeks later when I would have been in the US and because their health system is the 'best in the world' and doesn't need changing I would have lost both my bike and my house to their lawyers As far as I am aware, the US and antipodian underwriters still accept big bikes. Ride safe and try 1 stop travel insurance.

Yael from WorldNomads.com here. Just wanted to let you know that we can provide cover for bikes over 125cc if you select the level 2 sporting activities premium.

At any level, you will need to wear a helmet and you must and have a valid UK motor bike licence.

Unfortunately though, this policy cannot cover you if you are motor bike touring or your motor bike is the main mode of transport. It can’t be added, even for an additional premium.
Personal liability is excluded while motor bike riding and there is no cover for the motor bike itself.

More business for Cheap worldwide Travel Insurance. Holiday Travel Insurance then ?

I contacted World Nomads in Australia, and told them my wife and I are riding a motorbike (me 800cc, wife 250cc) from Cairo to Capetown and would we be covered, I recieved an email back saying yes we would be, all I had to do is outline the trip, but they did add Sudan may be a problem as it is on our Governments no go list. Are they different companies just flying under one umbrella, or if they are the same which they appear to be, why the different policy ?:eek3:

WN uses different underwriters, depending on your country of residence, so the fine print differs. Most residents are covered for biking, UK residents aren't.

If you read WN's fine print you will find that you are covered in every country, except if you are hurt in a country on the "not recommended list" and the claim is a result of whatever you were warned against. Quite sensible, really.

Travel Insurance, Cheap Travel Insurance Annual and Single trip - Endsleigh

I used Endsleigh' "adventure" in insurance "offroad motorcycle touring" in the list of covered activities for their extras.

Mine cost about £400 for 7 months in South America.

Whatever you do though, they all have a FCO dangerlist exceptions rule though I think..

Pick "single trip"
full in the quick quote form and hit "how much"
Select "comprehensive"
Tick "sports and adventure box" then hit the "do I need extra cover" tab.

Mine comes out at £284 for 5 months worldwide (exc USA)

Id be keen to find out what "offroad motorcycle touring" counts as though and if there's restrictions.

I know we've spoken about this recently, but I thought I'd post this as others may be interested.

We used Navigator Travel for insurance and not only were they very helpful, it also worked out very cheap. Just under £240 for 12 months excluding US.
By their measurements, motorcycle touring on any size bike is included in their base package and doesn't cost extra!

Any pre-existing conditions will cost extra, but if you accept them as exclusions, there's no loading.

After travelling in Africa for 4 months with sta insurance which did not cover me for motorcycling, the operator did not know they no longer covered this mode of transport, I took out a policy with Ensleigh but had two managers arguing with each other about the level of cover that was required, if they cannot agree what you need how on earth are we supposed to know, in the end I took the more expensive level of cover just to be sure. It did cover me in Sudan as long as I avoided Darfur and other areas listed by the foreign office, no problem doing that.

I've just had a look at the Navigator website - and although it does list motorcycling in the list of activities - in the small print it states that
"You are not covered for
a. claims resulting from motorcycling or quad biking.
b. claims arising out of manual labour."
Did you get additional cover for Personal Accident and Personal Liability?

I'm planning a trip to the US/Mexico & Canada this summer...

hey guys I hd direct line ins and I hd acident in Mexico last november and broke my leg ,spent 5 days in hospital and they was veryyyyyyyyyyy helpfull ,u only need to hv a full Britsh licence and wea a helmet.

There seem to be two threads on this at the moment. Very confusing. Anyway, I will phone Nav. Travel next week, but I've just seen this on their website:

The Voyager policies are not ideal for adventurous travellers, as they only cover a limited range of sports and activities, though motorcycle touring is covered on both Navigator and Voyager policies, with no restrictions on the cc of the bike, as long as a full UK license is held and crash helmets worn. Personal Liability cover is excluded for claims arising from driving or riding motor vehicles or riding animals.

I've just spoken to soemone on the phone from Navigator Travel. They have two policies - Voyager and Navigator. BOTH cover motorbike trips (as long as the bike is a mode of transport and not used for sporting reasons.) No extra 25% option is needed or anything. The bike won't be covered and neither will is cover the person I hit, but it covers me personally, all that I'm after really.

I can get with the Navigator option 12 months (including USA) for £264, or 6 months for North America at £160 and 6 months with "rest of the world" for £121. The reason for this si the policy doesn't let you return to the Uk mid policy (which I will be doing) although I don't know how they would know that!

Oh yeah, and BOTH these policies cover scuba diving as standard which is great. They have various add ons should you want to get cover for extra dangerous sports. Just go the wedsite and click - ourpolicies/longstaysingletrip/sports andadventure.

That's cheap cover.... Almost too good to be true. It's half the price of the policy I was going to buy !
