UK Insurance companies Covering Eastern Europe
I'm due to re-new my insurance but need a company that will cover Europe and some of the other Eastern Non European countries such as Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia & Macedonia.
Any suggestions ??? |
Although they drive me up the blxxdy wall come renewal time, Carol Nash. You can get a green card that covers all those countries for forty pounds for a months cover. Cheap if u r over there for that long, not so if its a shorter visit. They will post it or email it to you.

Have been in talks with Carol Nash, the policy would be with a company called "Market Study" whilst they have said it may be possible they need to know exact dates I will be passing through those countries.
Not sure what level of cover would be provided? Or if they are planning to issue a Green Card, but I suspect a Green Card is the only cover I will have. Are there any other insurance companies that can provide cover? |
When you contact Carole Nash for a green card, you need to specify the countries you want to visit otherwise they send out a generic one with not all countries ticked on it. Didn't realise that it can extend as far as Morocco and Russia if need be.

The "routine" of informing them of each and every trip out of the UK soon becomes a pain - where and dates are both required for the cover to be valid. https://www.markerstudy.com/policyholders MarkerStudy is the insurance underwriter, so I didn't get the policy via Carole Nash, but a different broker; just a point about the insurance business. |
Broker of brokers
Might be worth a go: I haven't used it (the website) myself.

While this is not necessarily applicable to Montenegro, Albania etc., your normal insurance at home is supposed to be valid all over the EU, without any extra payments. |

You are essentially correct in that UK insurance has to meet EU regulations so that the minimum cover applicable in each country is met by any valid insurance policy. In other words, the level of cover can/could change as national borders are crossed to meet the minimum requirements of the country just entered. What this amounts to is generally known in UK parlance as "3rd party" cover. "Comprehensive cover" is a very different insurance game. |
