UK insurance for Australian Citizens
Hello Hubbers,
Before I post my question I do want to say that yes, I have gone through just about every related thread on the Hubb, and used the links supplied to brokers and insurance companies. Here is a small problem I have in London at the minute, which I am aware is an age old question on here, but seems to be intermittently changing all the time in terms of answers. So I reach out to those who may know more up to date information on the matter. - I have bought a UK registered bike - I am not a UK resident - I don't have a UK licence - I am an Australian citizen - I have an Australian full riders licence - I have an address I can register the bike to I need to insure the bike to get it out of the UK. Insurers in the UK don't want to insure me. This is a common problem for foreigners who wish to buy and ride motorcycles in the UK. People who I have contacted and declined - bike insure - carole Nash - benetts - Adrian flux - several other brokers People who I have contacted and waiting on response - jcpayne.canpayne@tamcentraluk.com - sfadvmoto@gmail.com - Lobagola - Border insurance Is there anyone with any other ideas, links, processes or magic wands that can help me out of this predicament? I'm stuck with a bike and no way to insure it currently... |
Currently researching now. Any result from the work you have been doing?
Any help appreciated. Cheers |

No luck. There is only guy that can do it, and that insurance costs 4000 quid a year. Bit ridiculous if you ask me. Better off just riding it out of the country if you aren't there long, no questions at the ferry, no passport check at the ferry. Just lots of miserable faces waiting to leave! |
Have a read of this thread on advrider. Might be worth a try
UK Motorcycle Insurance for Non Residents is now available. | Adventure Rider I went through the sane issues when borrowing a bike a couple of years ago. My friend who owns the bike had to cancel the insurance he had and we re insured with Bikeinsure with me as a listed rider. Wasn't cheap but it was the only way. After My trip he cancelled the policy git a refund and re insured with his normal insurer. Its a stupid situation where a foreign rider ( not even a citizen of the commonwealth) cant get insurance in the UK. |
