UK Passport - how to get more pages
 

Planning a trip from UK to South Africa and back again. Have about 20 empty pages in my passport. Not sure how much it is going to get used, will it be average one page per country etc etc? I want to know if that is enough to get to South africa (going down the west coast). Passport agency quoted something like £54 for a new 40 page passport!!! That's about 5 days out of my budget!!! Alternatively does anyone know if you can get pages added to UK passports at embassies en route?

I asked about this at the High Commission here in Delhi because I only have one empty page left. They won't add pages, but will issue a second passport which runs concurrently. Unfortunately the cost is the same, ie about £55.

Do you have travel insurance just in case you lose your full passport?...

Thanks for the info Harvey. Shame it's so expensive for a replacement. Just checked my insurance and luckily it does cover me for loss of passport, should hate to loose such an expensive document!!
