Ukraine - bike insurance
Hi there,
I'm off to Germany/Poland on Saturday and as I believe a visa isn't required to get into Ukraine, I thought I pop across the border and take a ride about. My bike insurance company will not cover me for Ukraine (and they wouldn't get the paperwork to me in time anyway) so my question is - can you buy insurance / a green card at the border; like you can in Morocco for instance? If so, how much should it be and how do you ask for one - will they be able to speak English, German or French? Many thanks, Simon |
Hi Simon,
I think you will find officers speaking a little english at every major border post. At least there ist one at the larger border post between Slovakia and Ukraina exists an english speaking officer (the one near the lake - I always forget names...). If asked which would be the border post via which you want to leave make sure she will understand that you do not just want a transit stay (in case you do not, that is) in time (meaning before she starts writing something into her computer). In my case the officer only granted a stay of five days because of such misunderstanding, forcing me to a detour to Romania. Regards Lars |
Hi Lars,
Thanks for the info on the guards - I'm glad they will speak English. My Russian isn't very good ;-) I'll post on the board if I visit and let people know how easy it is to enter/leave Ukraine. All the best, Simon |
