USA Temporary Vehicle Import Permit Expired
HI,
I brought my Australian DR over for a tour of the America's. I have been having a blast. So much so its been a little over a year and 35,000 odd very happy miles. My temporary vehicle import permit is expired. I finally got onto some one from the US EPA and have been told the only way I can aquitt the permit is to ship the bike back to its home port. Has anyone had any experience with this? Love to hear about it. |
What's the penalty?

Maybe they changed it, but in 2010 when we entered the US twice on land borders, nobody cared about the bikes. Indeed that was the only country except EU/Schengen ones on our whole RTW trip in 3.5 years, where had not to do an temporary import.
Such was only mandatory for those who brought the bike into the US by ship or plane. On both exits nobody cared for the bikes or a permit, too. But that was on land borders, too. Even if it probably too late for Eddywoodgo: just ride to Canada and ship the bike home from there. Cheers Panny |
