Visa application....what is my occupation????
I'm off to the Stan's and Russia next year.
I'm working for the Police at the moment as a Scenes of Crime officer. Should I declare as such on my visa application, or is it likely to cause problems being involved in Law Enforcement?? Also, should I take my Warrant card when I go? Could flashing it get me into trouble or out of it? Thanks |
Good question... For the Visa i would not "note" your police job.
Maybe it opens you some doors for private appointments, when the guys on the checkpoint realize that you are an cop in your homecountry.. But for the visaform it will not help and may cause unwanted attention. I`m guessing - and would do that this way by myself in your situation. Surfy |
You are a civil servant.

I put "civil servant" on my Russian visa application with no bother. I'd take it, it might get you out of a ticket, LOL. More likely they'd be interested and it will definitely grease the social wheels, brothers in arms and all that. On the other hand if you get a bent copper who thinks this will make a nice souvenir you'll look like right twat telling your boss you had your warrant card nicked!

Maybe you should direct the question to your superiors.

Agree, no upside of telling full story.
Russian press having a field day vs UK police after Miranda detention right now. Its exactly what we used to accuse the KGB of in the dark days of the Soviet Union - using national security as an excuse to deny human rights and press freedoms - i.e. putting the rights of the state above the rights of individuals. (http://rt.com/op-edge/uk-gay-greenwa...om-police-679/) If a border guy knew who you work for he might just interrogate you for 9 hours and take your phone n laptop just for a laugh. Just be grateful you aren't going to Brazil... they would be even more tempted. |
