Visa procedures for Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran
Hi there
We are currently travelling in India. Our route back to Switzerland will lead us through Nepal, China, Kyrgystan, Usbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran into Europe. We have to apply for Visa for Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran but we cannot find information which are accurate about he process and time aquired to get the visa. Does anyone know A) Where the best place is to apply for these Visa? B) What the procedure looks like for these countries? C) How long in advance it make sense to apply? D) How much time it takes? E) What are the required documents for the applications? Any suggestions and experiences are appreciated! Thank you very much! Morla |

A very good resource to get you started: The Complete Guide to Central Asian Visas | Caravanistan

Nepal you can get up to several months on the border, simples, just a sticker in the passport. Best to pay in Nepali rupees. Airport lets you pay in other currencies (thinking if you are airfreighting from BKK), but land borders I'm thinking Nepali rupees.

Thank you all!
Caravanistan.com is great but I'm not sure if they are up to date (I've heard that e.g. for Iran all ten finger prints are required and on the website it doesn't say anything about that) and I want some infos and answers to my questions from travellers who did all the visa runs recently. |
Iran: Last May, I applied for auth code from iranianvisa.com, this took 14 days to process, then I went to the Frankfurt Embassy. They wanted an extra 100EUR for same day collection, otherwise wait 10 days. NB, they were specific about me wearing headscarf in passport pics and wearing a headscarf inside the Embassy building in Frankfurt. No mention of fingerprints. Heard these rumours last year.
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan: I applied for these visas by post to the London Embassies. These all took about a week to process and be posted back to me. |

Hi Morla,

Hi Fern...
Did you need an invitation letter for the last countries you applied for at the british ambassy? ....and did you have one for Iran aswell...? My visum 'pusher' charges around 80 euro for each invi- letter! .... :-/ ...I was thinking of taking contact to hotels in the specifik countrys, making an reservation at a night, in the cities I'll visit. Still need to stay and sleep somewhere and getting the invitation letter from a hotel in each country would spare me some money... Have you or any of you guy's have any experience regarding this...? Its maybe a silly question, but I allways useed my visum pusher in Cph to do these things for me. Thanx in advance :-) |
