Where Can I Get a Carnet for Thailand
I have bought an XT600 in Australia (Cairns) and after a trip to Cape York intend to ship it to Singapore and ride it up to Bangkok. The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland tell me they are able to supply carnets for Singapore and Malaysia but not Thailand. Does anyone know how I could arrange a Thai carnet?

Well, it's a good news, bad news sort of thing...
The good news is Thailand doesn't use the Carnet de Passage, so the fact that Thailand isn't listed on your carnet isn't a problem. The bad news is that they stamp the vehicle details in the driver's passport (most of Central America also does this), so you can't leave the country without the bike. But since you weren't planning to leave the bike in Thailand, that shouldn't be a problem. Right? |
Right Susan. I'm going to bring it back - honest!
Many thanks indeed for your reply. You have saved me a lot of worry and a great deal of running around! |
