2 Bikes Melbourne (Aus) to LA (USA) and out of NY (USA) back to Melbounre (Aus)
 

Hi Guys,

Been calling around everywhere, tried a few contacts from other posters here but ppl are saying they don't ship bikes air freight.

Need to get 2 bikes to LA on the 14th of June this year and then home again on (will be in NY on the 20th of August, both need to go air on way over there, as don't have the lead time to go by boat, and heard a few horror stories about sea shipping for the return am not to fussed if they come back by sea.

Anyone got any contact details of ppl they have used? I seen ppl say yo ucan ride them to the Airport, and have them go on the same flights, thought I haven't been able to track down anyone who has actually done this, and nobody at the airport seems to be able to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stewy, If you go out to Tullamarine and go to the QANTAS Cargo terminal. see the people at the front desk and they will send you round to see the boys in the warehouse who will measure your bike then tell you how much.

When you have picked yourself up off the floor then you can decide. It's expensive!! But it is possible. I decided not to do it and sent it by sea.

As for NY I'm guessing it's the same sort of process, but knowing the US customs service there will be headaches getting out. See if you can get LA to give you some sort of piece of paper to say you brought the bike in? (or keep hold of the airway bill)
