Air freight New York to Lisbon
Hey guys, long time reader but just now created an account to ask some questions.
I'm planning a trip that will include shipping from the east coast of the US or Canada to Lisbon. I've found a bit about shipping out of Toronto and Montreal but now a lot about air freight out of New York. I'd love to get some good contacts for a shipping company or hear from someone who has done the same with their bike. I'd love to ride up to the airport, roll on and roll off in Portugal. Any help is much appreciated! |
SHIPMYBIKE.COM
Have not used them for NYC-Lisbon specifically, but other EU destinations, and they are most knowledgeable/ competent for airfreighting almost anywhere. |
Thanks!
They replied quickly with great info. Apparently Lisbon is the most expensive airport to fly into. $2245 for sea freight.... but the import costs are unknown and definitely scare me. don't want to wind up spending $4000 or something when all said and done. I saw somewhere that a person shipped from Montreal to Madrid for like $1800 air freight. May look into that. I doubt shipping to Casablanca or Algiers could be any cheaper... these decisions are killing me. |

East coast US <-> Europe, the distance is, well, not short, but short enough, that I´d probably try to find airfreight (and possibly uncrated) at a suitable price. Much faster, possible delays are much shorter, and generally it seems easier to handle the customs at a foreign airport, than at a seaport. edit. here´s a recent thread on the subject on another site: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=891665 |
