Air fright from Indonesia to Europe. Any recommendations?

Hi there

I am already in contact with MASkargo Bali to arrange a air shippment of my bike from Bali (Indonesia) to Frankfurt (Germany). I´m now curious if someone have done that already or if someone has an other (better/cheaper) option available to fly the bike from Indonesia to Europe. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Bernhard

Hi,
i flew my bike, on 2011, from Bali to Tokyo. I know, it's the opposite direction, but, the forwarder i was in deal with, were using to fly with Thai Cargo (3,25$/kg. instead of Garuda, 29$/kg., it's quote was 14,000$), wich widely should provide to some routes to the old continent.
TRy to get in touch with FIN Logistic in Kuta,Bali: finlogistic.co.id.
They've crated and sent my bike in a pretty fine way.
Finlogistic is one of the very few companies wich are use to deal with Thai Cargo, much more cheaper than Garuda Indonesia.

MASKargo´s offer seems to be in the ballpark... but you´d still have to work out, how to get the bike to Kuala Lumpur from Indonesia then?

And please correct if I´m wrong with this, but wouldn´t Thai Airways Cargo actually route your bike from Jakarta to Europe via Bangkok? If yes, then that stopover/change of airplane probably does up the costs.

Here´s a thread KL->Amsterdam by air in 2012:

As for personal experience:
Thai Cargo use to route towards Bangkok as for hub.
in my case, from Bali to Tokyo, the bike has flown from Kuta airport to Suvarnabhumi, and from here to Narita, on anothere aircraft of course.
i think get the bike out from Indonesia in Bali it should be less complicated then Jakarta. i've got the bike cleared at the custom (out) office in Kuta in less then a couple of hours.

Hey there

Thank you for the answer.

I contacted finlogistics.co.id office in Bali and got no reply yet. Once they do I´ll post what they have to say.

I´ve also been in the MASkargo office in Bali (DPS) and spoke with them directly about the flight to Frankfurt. This guy´s seemed to me not experienced enough and on top of all they did hardly reply to my emails. Once I´ve been in their office they gave me following informations:
__________________________________________________ _____
Flight Denpasar to Frankfurt:
9,95 USD/kg......Motorbike
3,00 USD/kg......Fuel charge

4532USD for a 350kg Motorbike =
3388€
On top comes, handling, packing in an open box, custom, security, terminal charge.

__________________________________________________ _____

For me that was way too much and just out of curiosity I asked how much it would be to fly the motorbike from Bali to KL.

__________________________________________________ _____
Flight Denpasar to Kuala Lumpur:
1,08 USD/kg.......Motorbike
2,00 USD/kg.......Fuel charge

1078USD for a 350kg Motorbike =
806€
On top comes, handling, packing in an open box, custom, security, terminal charge.

After that, the conclusion was that it would be cheaper to fly the motorbike from Bali to Kuala Lumpur, unpack there and take an extra flight from Kuala Lumpur to Frankfurt. All with one company (MASkargo) doh Go figure...

But even when we got this conclusion they were still not sure about the rates and they still would have to confirm it again with MASkargo Malaysia. The office in Bali was just useless and the people where incompetent as hell. I still wait for their exact and confirmed rates to fly from Bali to Frankfurt. I´ll let you know about.

My conclusion is: If nothing else pop up I will ship via "onion boat" from Penang (Malaysia) to Belawan (Sumatra/Indonesia). Drive two month around on Sumatra and Java and take afterwards the "onion boat" back to Penang. Total cost of shipment 1540MYR = 365€. Afterwards I´ll drive to KL and fly my bike with MASkargo to Frankfurt. That way I´ll skip Kuta (Bali), it is a shithole anyway...

Ride safe and I´ll keep you posted.

Bernhard
