Air transport from US to Moscow
Greetings,
Has anyone done an air shipment of their bike from the US to Moscow? I'd be grateful to know which carrier you used, the cost, and any documentation issues you encountered. Thanks! ktm950se |
shipment to Moscow
By air or by ferry?

I would think the RUS end would be a nightmare of rules, restrictions, refusals and bribes. There is none of this at road borders where entering on a bike is straightforward. It is probably easier to have it sent to Germany (or similar) where this is a much more regular thing - and officials are 'straight'. Germany to Moscow is a pleasant 2 or 3 day ride through Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. All Schengen area so no Visa required for US citizens except for RUS. |
Yes, flying in to Germany or Finland seems to be recommended per Colebatch's response to my same inquiry on ADVrider.
My preference was to land the bike in Moscow to avoid further highway travel to my destination, as I'll likely be bringing a bike that's more dirt than road oriented. Now I just need to find an airline that also serves the US or Eastern Canada that will fly the bike for a fair price, and in a roll-or-roll-off capacity, if possible. ktm950se |
