By air from US west coast to Europe
I was hoping to fly with my bike from the US west coast to Europe this summer, preferably from San Francisco. I can only find information about flying out of Canada. Motorcycle Express has US departure cities listed on their web site, but told me in an email they don't fly out of the US anymore, the nearest would be Vancouver. I'd like to have my bike within a couple of days of arriving in Europe, so shipping by sea is not an option. Does anybody know of any air cargo option from the US?

Call them for current info & options. It may be counter-intuitive, but at least several years ago, it was actually cheaper & less hassle to first, truck (or ride) your bike to the East Coast/ JFK, then airfreight from JFK. That's because the airfreight market & rates were/ are(?) so much cheaper ex-JFK than any other international airport, that the total cost & time was cheaper from JFK. I don't know whether that's still the case, but specialist airfreight broker Berkley (above website) will let you know. And if it makes sense for you, they will also arrange trucking (if necessary) + airfreight from JFK, or whatever options are currently possible and cost-effective. |
