Any experience with Carnet and leaving a country temporarily
I have a my Carnet and we will be traveling through Africa, but I may have to store the truck somewhere for a few days and fly to South Africa and back. Does anyone have any experience with entering a country on a Carnet, flying out for a few days and coming back? Is there any country in particular that I should plan to do this from?

Hi Chris and welcome,
I have left my bike in South Africa on a carnet which officially you are not supposed to do but nobody complained, just make sure you do it where it is not written in your passport. |
We've done it several times (from Malawi and Zambia) and have a number of friends who also do it regularly. In fact I know several people who keep their car abroad permanently (in SA/Nam/Bots, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya) and just fly out for trips a couple of times a year. It won't be a problem (in fact no one will ever know).
