Hi, you probably can´t find a model-specific factory crate for an Africa Twin any more... but I´m guessing, that a Transalp 700 crate would not be very far off. Or actually any other crate, that´s been used to ship a bike with somehow similar lenght/width/height, could do just fine.

I´d contact Honda dealers in that area first, tell them about your trip and your need. You´ll probably need a bit of effort/luck to find a dealer, who has taken delivery of a bike of the right size just lately, and still has that crate. Or surely you could use a crate of a bigger bike, too, but it´ll have larger volumetric weight. They normally take the actual weight and volumetric weight of the package, and your chargeable weight will be the number, that is higher of the two.

Where do you want to send the bike to, and by sea or by air? If you´re still looking for a freight agent, I´ve got contact details for one in Melbourne, who arranged shipping my DL650 by sea from Sydney to Helsinki 5 years ago, and I payed total ~700 euros including absolutely everything, quite reasonable for transport half-way around the globe. It would probably cost more nowadays, but still I can recommend this company. They could also arrange airfreight.

Seems a lot for transporting a mid-size motorcycle from east side of Oz to North Europe?? I dunno how much you expected to pay for something like that, but it´s about 15.000 kms as the crow flies. I can also tell that the next cheapest quote was about 500 euros more. By air, the cheapest quote was about 2200 euro.

yep, shipping the bike is a painful experience... better to go over land if possible...

OK, got the BIke out of Frankfurt Airport.

1.180 Euro in Sydney (1670AUD) Total cost (ThaiCargo) :thumbup1:

56 Euro in Frankfurt. (LUG)

No crate needed, total uncomplicated, 48h time... Got the Carnet sorted in 10 minutes, half an hour later I left the airport and went straight to the Touratech Event for the weekend... great, what a show it was!

All in all a super smooth transfer... I will update the database ASAP...

Cheers, see you on da road somewhere... bier
