Ferry Iceland Scottland
Hei,
I try to find a ferry connection between Iceland an Scottland (or Ireland). Does anybody have experience? |
We did it several years ago when Smyrril lines used to run BERGEN, SCRABSTER, FAROES AND ICELAND, but Bergen and Scrabster were deleted from the run about 3 years ago - as was the mandatory 3 days on the Faroes (thankfully) so now it goes from north of Denmark to Iceland with a short stop on the Faroes

Hi tony,
I know that ferry, thanks. But I look especially for a connection from Scotland. So there was in pastz, butz not now? :-( |
No ferry from Scotland. Otherwise I would have done Iceland by now (grin).

I’m looking into air cargo from the UK to Iceland.
Nathan Millard suggested it as the way forward after his trip. The ferry from Denmark is expensive, about €1,000 for cheapest accommodation, plus you have to get to the north of Denmark - Hirtshals. Ferry is another two days journey on top of that. I’ll keep you posted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Hi,
If you want some more options then you can look at these links, these are all sea cargo vessels. The Mykines is a ro-ro freight ferry from Rotterdam http://www.smyrillinecargo.com/sched...nd-(ms-mykines) https://www.eimskip.com/offices/europe/uk/ https://www.samskip.com/our-network/#north-atlantic |
I’ve done some research.
Prices are based on travelling out on 3rd June 2020 and returning 24th June 2020. Ferry Harwich - Hook of Holland approx £450. Then 650 motorway miles to Hirtshals for the ferry to Iceland, which is another €1,000 upwards, depending on accommodation options. You also need to factor in the accompanying fuel and hotel costs for that part of the journey according to your own preference. Cargo from Immingham to Reykjavík, with Eimskip, £934 all in based on a bike value of £5,500. Return flight Heathrow to Gatwick is £150 with Icelandair. Budget airlines are a bit cheaper but may have complicated luggage charges ... No news on air freight option, but the sea freight takes about a week I understand, which seems a reasonable compromise. Any kit shipped with your bike is at your own risk, they advise checking it’s covered on your own insurance. Hope that’s useful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
