Fly bike from canada to south america help!
Hey, I'm looking to ship my bike from Edmonton or Calgary, Canada to either Ecuador, Columbia, or Peru. Looking for shipping companies and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey, would Vancouver be an option for you?
|
If you know someone who ships motos by air from Vancouver to anywhere in South Am, please post some info. I looked into it a while back and found the prices to be prohibitively expensive - you could buy a decent touring rig in South Am for the round trip shipping prices...

what Kind of bike you take with you?
would oceanfreight be an optoin for you? |
Keen to hear rough costs on that as well

we would have to request at our local Partner, when you plan to start the trip? Do you want an airfreight or would an oceanfreight be interesting?

Alright: how about round-trip air from YVR to either Meddelin or Santiago for a 550-pound motorcycle, leaving in say September or October, and returning 4 to 6 months later..?

just have the costs for a Transport from Canada to SA.
costs are by ocean USD 750 to San Antonio (Close to Valparaiso) by ocean USD 850 to Cartagena both excluding local port costs of approx USD 350,00 costs by air USD 2600,00 up to Santiago by air USD 2200,00 up to Bogota by air both excluding local Airport costs of approx USD 200,00 in case we Need to provide a crate this would be USD 450,00 extra we could arrange a return from Chile and Columbia, costs are same/slightly higher the transports between North and South America is not our main market, we are involved into Business to/from Germany but maybe this helps you |

Sea shipping seems much more affordable, but I've read some real horror stories here on HUBB about riders having their motorcycles trapped for weeks or even months on ships that are late, have changed schedules, etc. |
this might be a Problem in Columbia because of the fight against the well known Problem. Actually we send many many bikes per year from Germany to Chile and back and we never ran in any big Problems of delays or customs. I would recommend Chile as one of the best countries for start and return in SA
