Getting across Iran in 8 days
We have just been granted a whole 8 days to cross Iran!
As we are not on the most powerful bikes and as Iran is a huge country we are now thinking that putting the bikes on a train or truck would be the best option. Does anyone out there have any experience with doing this or have any information on the railway system in Iran - whether or not it is at all possible to put your bike on? Or perhaps there are regular truck services that will take bikes across the country. Any information will be greatly appreciated. |
Totally possible
Hi
My husband travelled from Pakistan to Turkey on a 10 day transit visa, on an enfield bullet.... this included a 2 nights stop in Bam and a 2 night stop in Esfahan. You should be fine, its just you won't be able to see many sights and be prepared for a few long days in the saddle. However the roads were in fantastic condition. Good luck Gemma |
If you are planning to enter Turkey,there are 2 more bordergates in more southern parts or train between 2 countries;
1-Kapıköy to Özalp and Van.(TR) 2-Esendere to Yüksekova and Hakkari..(TR) TIPS.. night bike ride is never recommended. So many military check points. weather is okey now. possible to buy visas for Turkey at bordergates for many nationalities.. Check yours here; Visa Fees at bordergates.(English) Visa Fees at Border Gates for 2011 / Rep. of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs Be aware that insurance for bikes for 3 months is max.5 euros in Turkey..If you are charged more, go to police department and tell them that you are informed about the insurance fee by turkish touring and automobile club otherwise you may be charged about 50 euros!!!! Best Wishes. |
