James Cargo - anyone used them to ship bikes ?
As title, it looks like I will be using James Cargo James Cargo Services IATA, AATA, IPATA and DEFRA approved Cargo Agent and have not found any sign of anyone here having used them yet.
|
I emailed a general enquiry to them about ten days ago but have not had a reply.

I spoke to them a week ago- very pleasant and helpful.

I'll mention lack of response when I speak to them Monday as they are keen to pick up more bike work (it would seem). |
Talk to Roddy Warriner at James, I've had several conversations with him. He'd like us to be an affiliate with them, where we get a small commission if someone says they heard about them on HU. I've been so busy with site upgrades I haven't had a chance to get back to him on it.
So I'd be pleased if you said HU when you talk to him, and let me know how it all goes - we want to be sure if we recommend them that they are actually good! Roddy seems very good, he's definitely very interested in shipping bikes, and has promised excellent service. Let's see... |
I just emailed them as well, wanting to know if they ship from Peru to Canada.
|
Just recieved an email from James Cargo. I'll keep you updated on my progress with them.

The best approach so far has been to actually go in the office and talk to them :-) We seem to be all set to get the bikes crated on June 8th |
RE James Cargo
I haven't used them, but I talked to Roddy at London bike show, very helpful. He also found out some info for me on leaving a bike in the USA while on a temp import.

Hmmmmm
I dropped an email to James Cargo on Monday asking about shipping my bike to West Africa - not a whisper from them yet.
In these times of economic strife, it seems to me unbelievable that (whatever other aspect of the company is good) they are not efficient enough to reply in any shape or form, not even an automated reply. I am self employed person and find it difficult to hand over my hard earned money to companies who do not work efficiently for their money - I don't think I should chase them for business Any clues, ideas, experiences, recommends I am in the early stage of planning a trip which would mean shipping to Senegal and then riding home, spending the majority of the time in Mauritania then a quick blast through Morocco and Europe back to Blighty |
James cargo DO take a very long time to respond to emails I asked them for a quote in December they got back to me in February.
Their prices when they do get back do seem middle of the road though , but its the not hearing from them for weeks that irked me plenty, you should just give them a phone call. |
i contacted them a few months back, got their number from paul gowen from RAC and found them very helpful and cheap too! the quoted me just over £600 all in to get my africa twin from uk to perth and also gave me a contact for the customs agent in oz so i could sort out the fee's on the other end.....

We used them to ship our UK registered trike to the USA (via Wallenius Wilhelmsen, now there's a good company), promised a lot, delivered very little, the guy I dealt with was pretty useless and every time I spoke to Roddy I seemed to get the runaround. Culminated in the wrong documentation and wrong information. Sorted it out in the end, no thanks to James Cargo, wouldn't touch them again.
