Looking for info on storing bike in Central America
I rode down from the States to Central America, but now I have to go back to work. I am hoping to store my bike for 6-9 months, and continue my trip next year. Any information or contacts anybody has would be helpful.
Currently enjoying some scuba diving off the coast of Belize. KrazyKarl |
You can keep it at my place in Mexico City but your temporary import permit would be out of date by the time you come back as the maximum time is 6 months. If you can make it to Mexico City you might as well keep going and store it somewhere in Southern Texas.
I don't know how long you can leave the bike in Belize but check to make sure. Terrible things can happen if the permit expires, like the bike being impounded as possibly confiscated. Good luck |
stored ours in Costa Rica
If you are going to make it as far as San Jose I can give you particulars. Cost $900 for the 11 months and i think that was the minum. It was a customs ware house Just picked them up took one and a half days to clear customs. APL Logistsics was the place, talk to Jurik, english speaker and could have not been nicer. the bikes were found as we left them besides the half inch of dirt covering them, further evidence they were not tampered with. good luck
