Novosibirsk to Moscow July 2018 Train R80G/S
Coming back from Mongolia I didn't fancy the ride back. So I put it on the train. I'm led to believe that there is a freighting side of the Trans/Sib railway but is not very reliable??
So I found JDE.ru A massive freight company in Russia. They use the train as well as the road etc etc. And have a rail line in the depot I didn't book or even phone. Just turned up at their depot in Novosibirsk, the bike got weighed immediately = R80 G/S 232 kilos - including some luggage stapped on the back Paid for it there and then.... it also goes by size = 2.2 cubic metres, front wheel and mudgurad was still on. Paid £115.00 for the 3000 km journey. That also included the crating. It took 8 days to Moscow. Again I turned up at the depot unannounced, nothing to pay, the staff broke up the crate and I rode away! I shipped it with some fuel in... the petrol station in Moscow is 3kms from the depot. I was with an English speaking friend and the system is a little strange for paying etc but think its perfectly possible if you don't speak the language. Glynn |
