NZ to Japan
Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to ship my bike from New Zealand to Japan.
NZ Express owes me money which I could apply towards the cost. They ship, but they're not a freight company (at least that's how emails seem). Could someone explain how to get a bike from NZ to Japan? I've got a crate lined up in Auckland, thanks to fellow HU folks Richard and Lisa. Still trying to figure out how to just pay money instead of getting a carnet since it'd be cheaper for a cheap bike. Who's a good freight company? Anyone know what I have to do to get it registered in Japan? --Dave ------------------ Trying to ride (and work) my way round the world on a 1965 Ducati 250cc. In New Zealand now. Service in Japan is less than desirable (too big to be personal) 37 Andrew Baxter Drive, Airport Oaks, Mangere Tel: 64-(9)256-0340 Fax: 64-(9)256-0343 Registering: You need and address and need to go through the alien registration process to get a legal address. Then you need to have it inspected, pay road taxes, and insure it. I thought you were going to temporarily import, not register in Japan... I sent you an email. I'm thrown off by temp import and visitor information.
