OZ to Malaysia
Hi, have found a lot of info about people sending moto's, but not too much with people shipping vehicles. Trying to find out best route/cheapest route to get a vehicle (land cruiser) up to SE Asia. So far it sounds like Malaysia is the way to go, but havn't been able to get an estimate on the price. Have heard anywhere from a couple thousand up to 9 thousand. If there's anyone with experience or knowledge of this it would be greatly appreciated.

Isnt there something like a ferry going between OZ and SEA?
I've been looking at the same thing basicly. My bike is in New Zealand. Just got a very good quote from Gofreight (1300 NZ$) to fly the bike from Auckland to Kathmandu. I'm skipping Thailand, because it's hard to get past Birma/China. |

We met a French guy in Malaysia who was waiting to receive his Landcruiser from Australia. I have given him your username on Horizons so he may contact you.

Hi,
I am Greg, the french guy who send his troopy from Australia (Port Adelaide) to Malaysia (Port Klang). I have used an Australian company I don't really want to recommend as I get a lot troubles with them. If you want the name I will give you later. But in Malaysia I found a good company to clear our troopy. Price can change up to 5 times, depend of which company you use. In Australia I took the cheapest and people was not serious at all. In Malaysia to clear my car I took also the cheapest, a Malaysian company, but this one was recommend to me by a friend, next to their quote I receive some other quote from company in relation with the one I've used to send the troopy, price was the same exept the currency ;) so it was 3 times the price. About the price: To send from Adelaide to Port Klang (including cost of shipping, container loading, trucking wharf, origine port charges, marine insurance) $2543 To clear our troopy in Malaysia at Port Klang (including documentation fee, forwarding fee, examination fee, handling fee, carnet de passage procedure, haulier charge and carrier charge) 2573RM ($850) The total from OZ to Malaysia was $3393 AUD The name of company in Port Klang is "Syarikat Aseantex Marine Services" The owner is also a traveler and he is really serious. IIS7 you can contact $1 (the owner) using my adventure name "Nomads Road" the french family touring the world by road in ten years! Here are fex tips to travel in Malaysia. You need to have your Carnet de passage but with you your REGO to be able to get an insurrance. For us only UniAsia have accepted to insure our troopy for a short term (AAM the local motor club insure only for one year) You also need to get the ICP, an autorization to drive in Malaysia without paying road tax for 3 month only, this document is free of charge. If you need more information, I'll try to answer you. Greg Accueil - Nomads Road Be fan of our adventure on FB www.facebook.com/nomadsroad |
