Panama to Colombia vehicle ferry now operating across the Darien Gap
 

Since October 2014 a new car, motorbike and people ferry has been operating from Panama to Colombia across the Darien Gap. The ferry also operates in the other direction (i.e. Colombia to Panama). This ferry allows quick, easy and cheap passage across the Darien Gap, essentially completing the Pan American Highway from Alaska to Argentina. This ferry makes the crossing much cheaper and easier than the old shipping container method.

As well as being much faster and easier than the old crossing method, this option also works out much cheaper.

For motorbikes it's around $300 all in to get your bike and yourself across the Darien - and you won't have to worry about salt water spraying on your bike, or having it dropped in the ocean on a wooden dock somewhere.

The ferry takes 4x4s too.

Driving the Pan American Highway from Alaska to Argentina just got a good deal easier and cheaper!

I already locked one other thread to keep the same topic from being discussed in many different places.
Please do a search of the HUBB before starting a new thread on a topic that isn't really new news. The ferry service started weeks ago and has been talked about for months.
