Qantas freight, Australia
Hey guys
We're looking at getting a pair of KTM's freighted from Brisbane to Thailand in June. I was wondering if anyone had any recent experience with Qantas freight from or even a Brisbane contact there? I called the freight office today and was simply told to use a freight forwarder. We're going to speak to Qantas in person next week but I thought I'd post here in the meantime. Cheers Joe |
The guys at the dock will tell you what to do. And how busy the freight is to where you want to go, e.g. very busy .. might take a week to find a spot for the bike, or straight on, no problem. The forwarder does all the paperwork the way they like .. where as you get most of the paperwork and forget to get a DGC .. so you need to research it a bit.

I've done quite a bit of research about it and the process seems relatively straight forward. (DGC filled out ourselves, UN class 3166 "Vehicle, Flammable Liquid Powered", IATA packing instruction 900, less than 1/4 tank of fuel, electrics protected from short circuit etc)
But like many others have experienced, over the phone I was simply told to use a freight forwarder. Which is why I was wondering if anyone had recent experience with the Brisbane freight office. I will be going to see them in person next week anyway and then post an update on how it goes. Joe |
Unfortunately AUS airports have agreed not to allow the public to ship. Can't get around it. Call Ivan at bikes abroad 0466965460 tell him Xander said to call. He'll take care of you.
