Recent freight Europe to Americas
Hi,
Had a look at the search engine but, what I am trying to find is up to date info. Has anyone sea or air freighted a bike from UK to the Americas recently? Time and route still flexible, so options are:- North America or NE part of South America. Got a ball park quote of US$2000 one way air to East Canada. |

BTW - if you have some infos on shipping from Columbia, pls. drop me a line! Regards from Arica / Chile |
Freight
Hallo,
not really what you asked for, but maybe helpful. I have booked a transport for my Honda Shadow 750cc from Bremerhaven, Germany, to Galveston, TX, this year. RoRo, leaves end of March, arrives mid April, cost is 2,300 € both ways. Transport from Munich to Bremerhaven and back around 460€, full trip insurance app.200€. Air transport is not that much more expensive, but for me RoRo was the better option, since I stay 6 months there and I do not need the bike during transport times, which are just 4 to 6 weeks. My partner is ojk@intime-ham.com . Customs in Galveston is done by myself, add another 250 $ US for that. No special preparation for RoRo, boxes can go with the bike but need to be empty, but as far as I can see, 23 k + hand luggage allow for taking my full equipment (ok, nearly). Regards |
Thanks guys for replying.
All a lot more expensive than I thought. Destination depends on time of year; if I go to South America, I will aim for NE part of Brazil, so hopefully avoid Carnet. Canada for me only works if I get in before the cold weather hits! |
A few quick points:
No carnet anywhere in the Americas. "Kito" on this site knows about shipping between Europe and Suriname, and has posted about it in the past. As I remember he paid about 500 euros one-way. I have never heard anyone say anything pleasant, or even printable, about shipping in or out of Brazil. Go for Colombia, Chile, Argentina or elsewhere. I'm not clear whether the 2300 euro price quote above is round trip or one-way. If one-way it's too much money (IMHO). Another standard option is Stefan Knopf, who ships a container Germany to Florida each fall. Good service, well-organized, reasonably cheap. Check it out. Hope that's helpful. Mark |
try these Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics - worldwide ocean transport, inland services, supply chain solutions, terminal services used them last year good service, ro-ro ,no crating involved Southampton to Baltimore , but the ship does travel down to at least the Panama canal
could also try these HILL SHIPPING WWW.HILLSHIPPING.COM who just joined the hubb hope this helps |
yer mark is right i paid 495 euro all in i had the choice of paying in Suriname or when I was in amsterdam. the agent in Suriname was called global expedition. i never had to crate my bike i just turned up had the customs guy check everrything was ok .I took the mirrors of and they rapped my bike in cling film. I am going back to Suriname in april .the company that shipped my bike last time want it to be in a crate going back to suriname but im working on flying my bike this time as i think i might have found a good price on that.

Resuming where you left off? I keep on seeing signs you've got a new ride. Hope it works out.

Hired a van with a tail lift and drove to Heathrow to drop them off. I think we have pics on the web site. It's all pretty easy really. Paul Welcome to Two Bikes Running |
Thanks for the quick reply.
Getting a '76 Goldwing in a crate ONTO a van at my end would be the problem !:( Though on it's own I guess it probably doesn't weigh any more than one of yours with all the kit. Long drive to Heathrow from Glasgow too, and back. Van hire for that distance ain't cheap! The RORO shipping from Liverpool to Portsmouth Va is looking more and more attractive. |

Hi kito,
Could give me some information about the company that can air-transport a motorbike. I want to fly my bike to Argentina, in 2010 shipped it over there, but the ship had a delay of one week and they dropped the crate. Not to bad as I was travelling for 6 months, but now I'm going for 3,5 moths so I need my time. |
