Shipping a bike into Mexico

Hi there,

am planning on shipping a bike from Europe into Cancun, Mexico. The shipping company has everything covered until arrival.
Am wondering now what to expect in terms of port handling, administration fees, customs, duty/tax and such.

I would be very greatful for any advice on how to import a motorcycle into Mexico and what to look out for.

Thanks

Releasing motorcycle from custom at the Cancun airport is simple task with no hassle at all and cost about 40 US for paper work and that how much I haw paid back in 2016 ...but then with all the papers from a custom you mast go all the way across the town to port authority office or by on line... to put a US 250 .00 deposit for temporary import which is going to be returned to you up on exiting Mexican border....I used credit card but cash can used also.

A foreign plated car in Mexico will require a temporary import permit. The permit will be valid for 180 days (the same as your tourist visa) If you are arriving in Mexico on a Temporary ResidentVisa your car’s permit will be as valid as long as your Temporary Resident Visa is valid. Your vehicle will be credited with an official document issued by Immigration.

Once you enter Mexico you will pay a processing fee, approximately $44 USD, if you are traveling with only your personal baggage in the car, choose the lane directed for ¨Nothing to declare¨

The migratory requirements are the same on land as they are if arriving by air.

The entry point officials will have the final approval on whether you and your vehicle may enter Mexico. You will pay a deposit for your permit, which will be refunded if the vehicle leaves Mexico by the permit’s expiration date.

Amount of Deposit for Temporary Import of Vehicles:

Year and model of the vehicle amount of the deposit equivalent in domestic currency

2007 and later $400 USD DOLLARS
2001 until 2006 $300 USD DOLLARS
2000 and prior $200 USD DOLLARS
Note: You may want to purchase a temporary import visa online through the Banjército website from 2 months to 7 days prior to entering Mexican territory if you are arriving during the busy season.

Thank you

Thank you very much for your reply!!

I think the best way may be to fly into Mexico and leave again via ship.
At least now I know what to expect upon arrival.

Going to Mexico

Hello,

I am planning to cross the Sierra Madre in May and I was wondering with which company did you ship your bike to Cancun? By air or sea?

Thank you so much!

Shipping bike

Hi there,
My plans changed in the end. Went to South America instead of Mexico but I was planning to use the company "In time forwarding & courier". You can ship your bike via sea or air. I used them to get my bike from Germany to Valparaiso, Chili. It all worked out fine.

Hope this helps you a little
